Chewelah, Wash.—Providence St. Joseph’s Hospital was named one of only seven hospitals in the state of Washington to receive five stars in the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services 2021 Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings.

The evaluation includes more than 3,300 hospitals nationwide. Each one is rated based on five categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care.

The rating range spans from one to five stars, with five representing the best quality. Only 455 facilities nationwide, including St. Joseph’s Hospital, received five stars.

Since its founding in 1929, Providence St. Joseph’s Hospital caregivers have been meeting the health care needs of Chewelah residents and surrounding communities in Stevens County.
