Registration has officially opened for Work2BeWell’s Virtual Teen Mental Health Summit, which will take place on Saturday, February 26th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM PT. This summit will be led by teens and is open to all, especially students, educators, mental health advocates, and families.
“Every Work2BeWell summit I've attended has left me feeling inspired to take action,” said National Student Advisory Council (NSAC) member Finn, from Oregon. “Being in the same (virtual) space as other teens passionate about mental health is such a uniquely empowering feeling and will give you so many ideas about how to fight for the future in your community."
The summit will showcase student voices, offer breakout sessions to discuss mental health themes, and highlight clinically-vetted resources. As the pandemic continues and times remain uncertain, it’s more important than ever to create spaces for teens to discuss these important topics and to connect our communities to information and resources to learn more about mental health and wellness.
Work2BeWell’s summit provides a unique opportunity to connect students and communities through learning and also through sharing. “Last year, I got to talk to students from across the nation about mental health and hear how different student councils used cool activities to promote positivity in their schools," said NSAC member Leina, from Oregon. This year, there will be a Share2BeWell session in which teens from across the country will share what they are doing to improve mental health in their communities, in hopes of inspiring and encouraging others.
The Work2BeWell program is a Providence initiative that focuses on the mental well-being of teens in the communities we serve. We host this summit each year to encourage students, parents, educators, and communities to reduce the stigma around mental health by talking more about it.
“I am so excited about our upcoming summit,” said Jawanza Hadley, Director of Work2BeWell. “This is our 5th Teen Mental Health Summit and is a great opportunity for communities to come together and discuss mental health. If you haven’t attended before, this is a great chance to hear from teens across the country who are doing amazing work around Mental Health. You will also hear about how Work2BeWell can partner with schools and community organizations to connect teens to mental health resources.”
Work2BeWell will be announcing the keynote speaker and the final schedule soon. To learn more about the Virtual Teen Mental Health Summit, please visit our website and if you want to join us, please register here.
