ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Providence Alaska has named seasoned health care professional John G. Hill as interim chief executive.

John has more than 20 years of executive health care experience, including serving for over six years as president and CEO at Bozeman Health, a faith-based, nonprofit health system in Montana. He also worked for PeaceHealth in Eugene, Ore., as senior vice president and CEO for the Catholic health system’s western Oregon region. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of the Medical Center of Aurora in Aurora, Colo.

Over the course of his executive career spanning several states, John has led through myriad complex operational issues and implemented innovative plans to optimize health care systems. Since leaving Bozeman, John has been consulting on various projects, including a Medicaid program in Oklahoma to expand primary care throughout the state in partnership with the state hospital association and area leaders.

A committee of Providence executives and community board members has begun a national search for the next permanent chief executive. Ella Goss, MSN, RN, previous chief executive of Providence Alaska, retired Aug. 1, 2025, after nearly 30 years of service in a variety of nursing and leadership roles.
