Providence Alaska Medical Center Visitation Guidelines

Providence Alaska Medical Center has returned to normal (pre-COVID) patient visitation hours and guidelines. To ensure our patients have a quiet environment for healing, patient visiting hours are 8 a.m.-9 p.m. each day.

Care partners – a person chosen by the patient to be their primary support – may stay with patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Generally, bedtime routines start at 9 p.m. and visitors other than family members are encouraged to go home to give the patient plenty of rest time.

There may be specific situations where visitation is limited due to a patient’s particular needs for care or for safety concerns in an intensive care unit.

Visitation guidelines:

  • Visitors may not smoke in patient rooms or anywhere on the hospital campus.
  • Visitors with colds, sore throats or any contagious diseases should not visit patients.
  • Keep visits reasonable in length to allow for adequate rest for the patient.
  • Please maintain a quiet environment when visiting.
  • Visitors may be asked to leave the room during a test or treatment or when the doctor or nurse needs to see the patient.
  • Children must remain quiet and supervised by an adult visitor at all times.
  • Care partners must use the Emergency Department entrance after 9 p.m. If you have 24-hour visitation, please check in at the Information Desk (main lobby) or the Security Booth in the Emergency Department.
  • Care partners should wear their Care Partner Sticker while inside PAMC.
