ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Providence Alaska announced today that Cynthia Libby, MBA, CFRE, has been named president and chief philanthropy officer of Providence Alaska Foundation effective Oct. 4.
Cynthia has served at Providence Alaska for nearly 10 years, most recently as region director of operations for the Providence Alaska Foundation. In this new role, she will lead the foundation’s operations and partner with Providence Alaska leaders to support the organization’s philanthropic efforts in the community.
“Cynthia is a person of Providence through and through,” said Ella Goss, MSN, RN, chief executive, Providence Alaska. “She is deeply committed to our Mission of serving the poor and vulnerable and delivers on that commitment in all her work.”
Since joining the Providence Alaska Foundation, Cynthia has helped raise tens of millions of dollars to support the Mission of Providence both inside and outside the walls of its facilities. This includes helping raise philanthropic investments for the construction of Alaska CARES, a facility that supports children who are victims of abuse.
Prior to working at Providence, Cynthia spent more than 15 years working in the fields of health and fundraising. She is a current member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Global and Alaska chapters, the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and the American College of Healthcare Executives. She is also the past President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Alaska Chapter. Cynthia earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Washington State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from Walla Walla University.
“I have been so lucky to find a career in philanthropy and serve a Mission that is meaningful to me personally, as well as our Alaska community,” said Cynthia. “It takes all of us working together to make our communities healthy and I look forward to helping our generous donors make major impacts to the delivery of health care throughout Alaska.”
Cynthia replaces Suzanne Carte-Cocroft, CRFE, who announced in August she will depart the organization for a new role in the Lower 48 closer to family.
