2nd Annual Pediatric Emergency Medicine Conference scheduled for Aug.10-11

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Health care professionals who provide care to pediatric patients are invited to attend the 2nd Annual Pediatric Emergency Medicine Conference 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, and Friday, Aug. 11, in the Dena'ina Convention Center in Anchorage.

This two-day conference is aimed at improving pediatric care with experts in the field of pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine presenting various emergency and critical-care topics. 

The keynote speaker will be Dale P. Woolridge, M.D., PhD, FACEP. Dr. Woolridge is an author and editor for multiple textbooks in pediatric emergency medicine and Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the University of Arizona, where he is currently the director of the Pediatric and Emergency Medicine combined residency training program. Dr. Woolridge is the medical director of the Southern Arizona Children’s Advocacy Center; the primary referral center for all children in southern Arizona subjected to abuse and neglect. He is the Committee Chair for the Arizona State Health Department’s Pediatric Advisory Council for Emergency Services (PACES) and committee member of the Arizona EMS Advisory Council.

After the education, learners will feel more comfortable and better prepared to provide urgent and emergent pediatric medical care. Topics include:

  • Respiratory Disease and distress
  • Traumatic Brain Injury
  • ENT Emergencies
  • Neonatal Emergencies
  • Sedation
  • Non-Accidental Trauma
  • Pediatric Rash
  • Managing the Critically Ill
  • Orthopedic Emergencies
