Access to life-saving medications remains a significant barrier for many individuals and families facing financial hardship. Through a long-standing partnership with Catholic Charities of Lubbock, Covenant Health's Community Health & Wellness Grant Program helps ensure vulnerable populations across West Texas and eastern New Mexico can access critical medications and supportive services. Over the past five years, Catholic Charities' Prescription Assistance Program has served 5,491 individuals across a 36-county region—highlighting both the scale and urgency of need. The program works closely with Covenant caregivers, social workers, and community partners to identify those struggling to afford medications and connect them with available resources. Through comprehensive screening, patients are evaluated for programs such as the Indigent Health Care Program, Blue Card Program, and pharmaceutical assistance programs. Staff also collaborate with Covenant social workers and local pharmacies to secure medications at the lowest possible cost. This coordinated approach provides immediate relief while connecting individuals to long-term support systems. Each year, Covenant Health funding supports medication assistance for approximately 250 individuals—a number consistently exceeded through strong community partnerships. For many, this support serves as a critical bridge to stability. Of the individuals assisted over the past five years, 80% identify as Hispanic or White/Hispanic, highlighting the importance of culturally responsive and bilingual services that address barriers related to language access, economic hardship, and limited access to healthcare resources. The program also served 916 Black/African American residents and 232 individuals from other racial or ethnic backgrounds, underscoring persistent disparities that require targeted outreach and community collaboration. Rooted in dignity and compassion, this partnership extends Covenant Health's mission beyond clinical walls—improving access, strengthening communities, and ensuring essential care remains within reach for those who need it most. A Lifeline Beyond the Prescription Partnering with Catholic Charities to expand access to essential medications across West Texas and eastern New Mexico. 2025 Annual Report
