• The 2021 focus was on Leader Rounding to identify oppor tunity areas to address in realtime with an effor t to improve the patient experience while the patient is still in the ministr y. • 2022 will focus on Caregiver Responsiveness to patient requests, Hospital Environment and Overall Rating of Care. Volunteer Services We were happy to welcome back our volunteers in 2021 and listed below are some of their accomplishments: • Onboarded 214 new volunteers • Volunteers contributed 12,254 ser vice hours that equated to over $300,000 • San Pedro Auxiliar y donated $15,000 towards San Pedro's Magnet Journey • Torrance Auxiliar y donated $122,740 towards Women & Children's • Volunteers suppor ted COVID surges, providing patient transpor t, discharges, restocking supplies, cleaning rooms and suppor ting our ministries in any way they could Love on 4 Paws Program Love on 4 Paws is an animal-assisted therapy program that provides trained therapy animal teams to hospitals. The Jackie Prindle Therapy Dog Program sponsors Love on 4 Paws at both our San Pedro and Torrance ministries. Jackie Prindle was born on May 22, 1985, with a rare disorder called Mar fan Syndrome. She had an outgoing personality and a great love for her dogs. On Feb. 25, 2010, at just 24 years of age, Jackie died from Mar fan-related complications. Her family obser ved firsthand how impor tant a dog (or two) was to Jackie as a patient and have experienced a dog's healing power as they dealt with their own loss. They star ted this program to help ease the suffering of others in the hospital. And, of course, the caregivers are just as happy to see the dogs who bring unconditional love and cuddles to all in need. 21 strENGtHEN tHE COrE
