Keck Medicine of USC
In the past, when South Bay residents needed advanced cardiovascular surgical care, they
often had to travel to other par ts of Southern California.
Providence Little Company of Mar y Medical Center 's par tnership with Keck Medicine of
USC provides exper t, cardiovascular surgical care to Providence patients in the South Bay
ranging from cardiac bypass surger y to more sophisticated procedures, such as complex
valve repair using minimally invasive techniques. This par tnership also allows Providence
patients who need a higher level of cardiac care to be easily transferred to USC.
" The success of this par tnership reflects the increasing need for complex cardiovascular
care," says Craig J. Baker, MD, division chief of cardiac surger y at the University of Southern
California Keck School of Medicine." The landscape of cardiac surger y is changing in the
community with a shift from straightfor ward operations to more complex procedures".
