Join podiatrist Dr. Ira Diamond and Providence Little Company of Mary, in a campaign to give shoes and socks to those in need. We will be collecting new socks and lightly used shoes for the homeless in Los Angeles from November 15 - December 31 HOW TO DONATE WHERE TO DONATE Drop of your donation (s) at any of the bins in the following areas: SHOES Please deliver each pair of shoes in one of the following ways: • Laced together • Individually, in a plastic bag • Zip-tied together SOCKS Socks should be delivered in a SAN PEDRO • Caregiver entrance • Outside the education office at SACC TORRANCE • Caregiver entrance from the parking structure • Transitional Care Center • Mental Health » Mental health therapy ser vices provided by the Richstone Family Center for patients at Vasek Polak Health Clinic. began in 2021 and implemented in early 2022. Our community goal is 20% reduction of our waste by year end. Sunday by the Sea We par ticipate in the Sunday by the Sea annual food donation program which provides food to approximately 350 families associated with Trinity Hospice. Honda Under the Stars Providence Little Company of Mar y par ticipates in Honda's annual charity event that benefits over 1,000 people a year. Homeboy Bakeries Our ministries continue to work closely with this organization that is a transition employment oppor tunity for previously imprisoned men and women giving them a fresh star t. The program was founded by Fr. Boyle. Shoe Drive Each year we par ticipate with Shoes for the Homeless, Inc., led by Ira Diamond, DPM, a retired podiatrist who collects socks and shoes for homeless men, women, and children in Los Angeles. Between November 15 and December 31, 2021, we collected approximately 750 pairs of lightly used or new shoes and 125 new pairs of socks. Food and Nutrition Programs Food Finders We continued with our food donation program that star ted in 2016 to help reduce food insecurity (a lack of consistent access to enough food for ever yone in the household) by donating excess food to par tner sites in need across the South Bay. Food Finders' mission, and our mission, is to eliminate hunger and food waste by improving nutrition in food-insecure communities. The surplus food at both our ministries is donated to individuals including some within our own ministries as well as community organizations in need. Approximately 34,000 meals were provided this past year. Goodwill Industries We par tner with Goodwill Industries to provide on the job training and employment oppor tunities to special needs individuals who complete a three-month intern program alongside a coach. We successfully trained and hired 4 Goodwill individuals as caregivers in 2021. This program aligns with the hopes and aspirations of our founding Sisters by remaining faithful to the mission where we are steadfast in being a voice for and a ser vant to those who are poor and vulnerable. We keep the identity and heritage of our founding Sisters alive by continuing to respond to the signs of the times and reach out to others as we do with our Goodwill intern program. Lean Path The Lean Path aims at reducing both our organic and inorganic waste into area landfills and helping to improve our carbon footprint.
