Clinical Trials
Providence Little Company of Mar y 's Comprehensive Stroke Center is
participating in groundbreaking stroke research trials that will lead to
exciting new treatments and better outcomes for our community.
Dr. Alex Hakim, ICU Intensivist, is a Principle Investigator for the
Novartis Trial studying the use of a specific drug for treatment of
COVID-19.
City of Hope conducts more than 400 clinical trials each year. Our
partnership with City of Hope in the South Bay means our patients
have access to participate in these trials as well as benefit from the
latest treatments available.

The PACC offers multiple services and physician offices including:
• Providence Comprehensive Diagnostic Imaging
• City of Hope
• Coastal Ortho
• Pacific NeuroScience Institute
Providence Trinity Care occupies much of
the Douglas and J. Glass Building located
next to the PACC. Coastal Ortho recently
opened their indoor rehabilitation therapy
pool and a dedicated MRI for their patients.

availability of parking help ease the way of
many of our patients.
Facility Advancements
San Pedro
• $8M Emergency Department expansion project that will increase
the size of the current Emergency Department from 16 beds to 28
to better serve our community is in progress
• Construction continues on the Pharmacy upgrade to meet new
state requirements.
• All existing wireless access points were replaced with latest
technology to improve coverage and bandwidth within the ministr y
• Conversion of an existing shower to an Americans with Disability
Act (ADA) compliant shower for the Acute Rehabilitation Unit
• Replacement of the surgical equipment sterilizer
• Creation of 'time share' office space near the ministr y to allow new
physicians into the San Pedro community to expand their practices
