Addressing Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion Please scan the QR code to the left or click here to access the 30-minute training on Implicit Bias for caregivers. DIVERSITY is the presence of differences that may include race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity, nationality, socioeconomic status, language, (dis)ability, age, religious commitment, or political perspective. Populations that have been-and remain- underrepresented among practitioners in the field and marginalized in the broader society. EQUALITY is promoting justice, impartiality and fairness within the procedures, processes, and distribution of resources by institutions or systems. Tackling equity issues requires an understanding of the root causes of outcome disparities within our society. INCLUSION is the outcome that ensures those that are diverse actually feel and/or are welcomed. Inclusion outcomes are met when you, your institution, and your programs are truly inviting to all to the degree where diverse individuals are able to participate fully in the decision-making processes and development opportunities within an organization or group. DEI definitions taken from https://dei.ex tension.org. In alignment with the Providence Mission Statement, we have a commitment to ensure we treat all with respect and understand our response to biases that may impact those responses. Providence has set goals for all caregivers and leaders to deepen their understanding and response to biases through implicit bias training in 2022. As outlined in the table below, each caregiver and core leader have the responsibility to par ticipate and learn from these activities. Robin Rimorin and Kendall Protzmann are the South Bay leaders for DEI, with Garr y Olney as the executive sponsor. If you would like to par ticipate in this workgroup, please contact Robin at Robin.Rimorin@providence.org. Implicit bias training (on HealthStream) is required for all caregivers to suppor t a more inclusive patient care experience and a more inclusive caregiver experience. Please use the links below to complete the training if you have not already done so.
