Messages from Leadership
Nursing has been for tunate in the South Bay in that we hit some key
milestones in the past several months at both ministries.
In San Pedro, we successfully kicked off our Shared Governance
Council structure officially launching our Magnet journey to Nursing
excellence. The San Pedro Nursing team received accolades from our
regional Nursing leadership on their incredible engagement. The team
far exceeded the anticipated timeline for standing up their Shared
Governance Council structure.
In Torrance, we were proud to be recognized with the prestigious Magnet
designation for the second time. This distinction placed Torrance among
the top 8% of hospitals in the nation for excellence in nursing care and
outcomes.
These accomplishments by our nurses occurred while we were fully
engaged in caring for our community during the worldwide COVID-19
pandemic. This is a key example of our dedication to excellence, a core
value we hold dear. Our nurses could not have accomplished this work at
either ministr y without the suppor t and commitment of our par tners in
care and our physician par tners.
One thing we have learned over the past two years is how to continue
to keep our commitment to advancing the nursing profession and
our par tners in care relationships even under the most challenging
conditions. We are proud. We are strong. And, we are unwavering in our
commitment to our mission, our patients, and each other. For that, we
are blessed.
