20 strengthen the Core U.S. News & World Report Providence Little Company of Mar y Medical Center Torrance has once again been named a "Best Hospital " by U.S. News & World Report. This ranking places the medical center as one of the top-rated hospitals in California and Los Angeles. These rankings are determined by patient outcomes, patient experience, physician opinion and other care-related factors. Quality Initiatives These are a few of the quality initiatives where we continue to provide focus: Emergency Department (ED) Throughput: An important initiative to ensure patients who are admitted are moved to a room within two hours. This ensures that other emergency patients can make their way to a treatment room in a timely manner. NTSV (Nulliparous, Term, Singleton, Vertex) Rate: 90% of women that have a Cesarean Section with their first deliver y are most likely to have a repeat C-Section with subsequent pregnancies. With the increase in maternal complications that can occur with Cesarean deliveries, the State of California has set a goal for the NTSV rate to be less than 23.9%. The Torrance ministr y has been exceeding this goal. The rate in 2020 was 18.4%. Readmission Rate: Avoiding readmits to the hospital by providing better care coordination while a patient is in the hospital and better follow-up when they are discharged ensures our patients are receiving the care they need. Both of our ministries are exceeding our goal to reduce patients from being readmitted. Hospital Acquired Infections: Another important quality metric is the prevention of hospital acquired infections (HAI). Certain procedures such as inserting a central line or urinar y catheter can introduce bacteria into the body. Ensuring we do ever ything possible to prevent harm to our patients by implementing standard work, policies, and procedures is key to our success. At both of our ministries, we are exceeding our goal to prevent patients from acquiring infections from their hospitalization.
