PROVIDENCE | ESG REPORT | 7 INTRODUCTION ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIAL GOVERNANCE ABOUT US OVERVIEW From stressful droughts and heat waves to traumatic wildfires and floods, climate change is affecting the communities we serve and magnifying the impacts of the social determinants of health. In keeping with our core value of justice, which calls us to care wisely for our people, our resources and our Earth, Providence has a clear responsibility to minimize our own contributions to climate change and to be good stewards of the planet we share. Our commitment to environmental stewardship touches all aspects of health care, from reducing our carbon emissions to building climate resilience within our communities. These efforts aim to protect those who are most affected by climate change, and who contribute the least to it. We are proud to detail our progress in all three areas in this ESG report. To learn more, visit the Providence Center for Environmental Stewardship. The term 'steward' means being entrusted to care for something. God entrusted all of creation to us to care for. It is our responsibility to take care of creation as God would.
