PROVIDENCE | ESG REPORT | 3 A Message from Leadership DEAR VALUED PARTNERS, As CEO, CAO and board chair of Providence, we take great pleasure in presenting our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report for 2023. We couldn't be prouder of the work our caregivers and community partners have done to show up for those most in need. 2023 continued to be a challenging year for health care providers. The national labor shortage, access issues, reimbursement challenges, and increasing costs for supplies and medications put a strain on health systems across the country. Thanks to everyone at Providence, however, we continued to make important strides toward fulfilling our commitments to build healthier communities. Together, we worked to ensure that the Providence Mission endures and thrives for generations to come. Our approach to investing in our communities and caregivers is holistic, and it's what makes us different. We take a broad view of health, focusing not only on meeting basic health needs but also on removing barriers to care, building community resilience and innovating for the future. The environmental and social impact that we made together in 2023, across all the communities we serve, is a testament to how we live out our Mission to serve everyone, especially those who are poor and vulnerable. Sincerely, Rod Hochman, M.D. CEO and President Mike Murphy Providence St. Joseph Board Chair Ali Santore, MPA Executive Vice President Chief Administrative Officer INTRODUCTION ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIAL GOVERNANCE ABOUT US Rod Hochman, M.D. Mike Murphy Ali Santore
