4 Our Caregiver Spotlight SHINES on Rushaun Hanson. Rushaun has been working at Providence Little Company of Mar y (PLCM) Medical Centers San Pedro and Torrance as the Patient Experience Specialist since 2017. "I started my career at PLCM as a Patient Experience intern and immediately felt connected to Providence's core values and mission, which aligned with my own. I chose to continue to work at PLCM because I enjoy the work, as well as the Patient Experience team. I feel called to Providence to support the patient care experience. "I enjoy working at PLCM because I love the environment and the people. I take pride and find fulfillment in being a patient advocate, helping patients when they feel most vulnerable. Our Physician Spotlight "SHINES " on Malgorzata Stanczyk, MD, FACS, a board certified bariatric surgeon and Medical Director of the Bariatric Wellness Center at Providence Little Company of Mar y Medical Center San Pedro. "As a bariatric surgeon, I perform multiple laparoscopic and open surgical weight loss surgeries to help those struggling with weight management. Helping my patients reach their weight loss goals is extremely rewarding because it gives them a new lease on life. They lose weight and begin to eat healthier, which improves their overall quality of life and health. "I choose to work at Providence Little Company of Mar y because we treat our patients with respect, caring for our community emotionally and spiritually. I come to work ever y day feeling like I can make a difference. Our Volunteer Spotlight shines on Les Sheckman, a volunteer for Providence Little Company of Mar y Medical Centers San Pedro and Torrance since 2017. "As a volunteer, I assist with discharging patients and running various errands throughout the hospital. In addition, I work with stroke patients – visiting them and their families during their hospital stay. I am always happy to answer their questions, as I also suffered from a stroke in the past myself. "I chose to volunteer at PLCMMC because I was a patient at the San Pedro hospital and wanted to give something back for the excellent care I received from the dedicated medical team. I enjoy volunteering each day because of the personal contact with the patients. I find fulfillment in encouraging and supporting as many people as I can during their hospital stay.
