Meet Your Leadership teaM
Garr y is the father of 3 boys including a set of twins who are
graduating from High School this year. His undergraduate degree
is in Nursing and he has an MBA and a Doctorate of Nursing.
While he has held executive leadership positions at the regional and system levels,
his favorite is the one he has within our ministr y today as Chief Executive. It is a role
where he can be closest to where care is provided to patients. This is his sixth year
with Providence Little Company of Mar y and he says what brings him to work each day
is knowing that what he does is a calling – work that he was meant to do.
Garr y lives our mission by giving back to the community in tangible ways. He recently
volunteered, along with several of our San Pedro and Torrance caregivers and
regional leadership, to build homes in Tijuana, Mexico. He also has a heart for, and
has supported, Angel Gowns of South Bay, a group of volunteers that uses donated
wedding gowns to make burial gowns and wraps for infants to help ease the suffering
of parents who have lost their children before, during, or shortly after birth. They also
make gowns for hospice children using fun materials and special patterns to provide
comfort and dignity during their illness.
When Garr y turned 50 he set a goal for himself to learn to play the cello. He has been
taking lessons ever since. He chose the cello because he has always loved its sound
and the rich tone and raw emotions that its sound evokes.
The one thing Garr y would like our caregivers to know is that he is accessible 24/7 to
all. The administration hallway is open. Each member of the senior leadership team
has an open door policy to ensure our caregivers and physicians have direct access to
them for support as needed.
