Creating Opportunities For Physical Activity (COPA) Physical Education Specialists provided students with virtual physical education classes. We interviewed 17 physicians and community leaders to hear their stories and words of encouragement about COVID. The videos were shared across the South Bay via social media (including paid boosts to our targeted communities that had the highest COVID positivity rates). Community Health staff providing the COVID-19 vaccine at one of our pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinics. 26 Be our CoMMunities' heaLth partner • Partners for Healthy Kids Mobile Van provided 1,000 flu shots in underserved communities September through November. The staff volunteered at vaccine clinics operated by Caregiver Health and are now our lead staff in implementing pop-up COVID-19 vaccine clinics. The mobile clinic has shifted from providing immunizations and HPV shots to flu shots and COVID-19 vaccine shots. Programs that address Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion • Food and Environmental Services internship with Goodwill Industries A 90-day internship program developed within the department to provide special needs individuals with on-the-job training via a one- on-one coach. The program's goal is to provide the participants with the skills needed to secure employment. Five individuals are currently enrolled in the program, and two previous interns have been hired this past year. • Homeboy Bakeries - Our ministries work closely with the organization that is a transition employment opportunity for incarcerated men and women giving them a fresh start. The program was founded by Fr. Boyle. Food and Nutrition Programs • Food Finders program was established in 2016 to help reduce food insecurity in our communities by donating our excess food to partnered sites across the South Bay. Our Torrance ministr y donates 4,000 meals a year to New Challenge Ministr y, a Torrance Food Bank and House of Yahweh, a Torrance outreach center founded by Sr. Michele Marie Morris. Our San Pedro ministr y donates 2,000 meals a year to the Harbor Interfaith Services, a shelter for the homeless and working poor in San Pedro.
