When preparing food: • Use herbs, spices, citrus juices and/or vinegars in place of salt to add flavor. • Drain and rinse canned beans. • Combine lower-sodium versions of food with regular versions. • Cook pasta, rice and hot cereal without salt. • Cook by grilling, braising, roasting, searing and sautéing to bring out natural flavors. • Incorporate foods with potassium like greens, tomatoes and kidney beans into your meal.
