Differences by Race or Ethnicity
There are far fewer differences by race and ethnicity in our survey
sample than by age and gender in terms of how young people say they
use digital technology for health information and communication.
• There are no statistically significant differences among White,
Black, or Latino youth in this sample in the percent that say they
have ever gone online for health information, used health-re-
lated mobile apps, watched or read other people's personal
health stories online, or gone online to find people with health
concerns similar to their own.
• Black youth are more likely to say they have connected to
a health provider online (34%, compared to 20% of Whites
and 17% of Latinos).
• Black youth are also more likely to have shared their own
health stories online (24%, compared to 13% of White and
Latino youth).
