Physicians United at Heart. Championing Women's Heart Health Heart disease remains the leading cause of death among women in the United States — a reality that underscores the urgent need for education, prevention, and early intervention. In response, Covenant Health hosted a free Women's Heart Health & Wellness Fair designed to empower women with knowledge, access to screening, and direct connection to trusted medical experts. Held at the Knipling Education and Conference Center at Covenant Medical Center, the event brought together community members for an engaging panel discussion focused on understanding heart health at every stage of life. Topics addressed Included: Wellness, prevention, and health maintenance Screenings, labs, annual exams, and overall cardiovascular health Diabetes and nutrition Hormone replacement therapy during perimenopause and menopause Managing risk factors across the lifespan Impact Beyond the Event By combining education, prevention, and direct community engagement, Covenant Health continues to advance its mission of improving health outcomes for women across the region. Events like this not only increase awareness — they create actionable pathways toward earlier detection, healthier lifestyles, and stronger long- term cardiovascular health. Through collaboration, expertise, and community-centered care, Covenant Health remains dedicated to ensuring women have the tools and support they need to live longer, healthier lives. Attendees heard directly from a multidisciplinary team of Covenant Health physicians, representing cardiology, endocrinology, obstetrics and gynecology, and family medicine — reflecting the comprehensive, whole-person approach required to improve women's cardiovascular outcomes. Expert panelists included: Dr. Marina Iskandir – Interventional Cardiology Dr. Haley Hughston – Cardiology Dr. Bennett Henderson – Obstetrics and Gynecology Dr. Ramya Undamatla – Endocrinology Dr. Holly Lewis – Family Medicine In addition to expert insights, attendees received free blood pressure screenings and enjoyed a complimentary lunch, reinforcing Covenant Health's commitment to making preventive care accessible and approachable.
