Covenant Health expanded access to life-saving care across the South Plains with the installation of three Safe Haven Baby Boxes at Covenant Children's, Covenant Health Plainview, and Covenant Hospital Levelland. These boxes provide a secure, anonymous option for parents in crisis to safely surrender a newborn—ensuring immediate medical attention and a pathway to protection, dignity, and care. Each box is monitored 24/7. When opened, a silent alarm alerts Covenant Health caregivers instantly, allowing trained physicians and nurses to respond without delay. Serving a vast rural region, Covenant Health recognizes the critical need for accessible, compassionate resources for families facing unimaginable circumstances. "With the size of our service area, families often travel to Lubbock, Plainview, or Levelland for care," said Tavia Hatfield, executive director of Community Health Investment. "These boxes meet a very real need for our communities—and most importantly, for vulnerable newborns."
