"To be a patient here and to see what it means for my family to get this kind of quality care right here is so significant," Dusty- In remission after battling Stage IV B-cell lymphoma, beloved pastor, Dr. Amy Thompson's other half He is especially grateful for the team at Joe Arrington Cancer Center and the ability to receive advanced cancer care close to home. Dusty's journey is a powerful reminder that exceptional care is not just about treatment — it is about compassion, expertise, and walking alongside patients and families in their most difficult moments. At Covenant Health, we are proud to stand beside Dusty and will continue supporting him every step of the way. To our community, Dusty Thompson is a beloved pastor and spiritual leader. To our Covenant Health family, he is Dr. Amy Thompson's other half. To the caregivers at Joe Arrington Cancer Center, he is a courageous patient. In June, Dusty was diagnosed with Stage IV B-cell lymphoma. What began as persistent back pain, fatigue, and night sweats initially seemed like a virus. But after lab work and an admission through Covenant Medical Center's Emergency Department, imaging revealed lesions throughout his spine. A biopsy confirmed the diagnosis, and a follow-up PET scan showed the cancer had spread to bones across his body. Treatment began immediately. Dusty completed a week of inpatient chemotherapy before transitioning to outpatient care at Covenant Health's Joe Arrington Cancer Center. Since then, he has completed six rounds of chemotherapy — facing each step with resilience and faith. Though he has spent years connected to healthcare through Amy's leadership at Covenant Health, becoming a patient himself offered a deeply personal perspective. Reflecting on those first days after diagnosis, Dusty shared, "It's kind of like you think it might be… really, really hard." Yet even in the uncertainty, he continues to fight daily, grounded in his faith and supported by his family. Dusty Thompson- Faith, Family, and the Fight Forward.
