The Joint Commission As The Joint Commission prepared to roll out its Sustainable Healthcare Certification for U.S. Hospitals, Providence's chief administrative officer, Ali Santore, met with the group to share the Providence perspective. The World Hospital Congress Rod Hochman, M.D., president and CEO of Providence and a former AHA chair, joined climate leaders from Spain, India, the UAE and Colombia at the 46th World Hospital Congress to talk about planning and designing sustainable and resilient health care systems. The GREEN Hospitals Act Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) introduced the GREEN Hospitals Act, modeled after Providence's environmental stewardship goal. The bill seeks to provide federal funding to increase the capacity of health facilities to provide essential health care and to make them more resilient to climate and public health crises.
