Health Matters: Providence Holy Cross Medical Center | 3 W hen you or your family member is sick or in pain—especially if it is after hours or on a weekend or holiday—it's understandable to think, "We should head to the ER." But the truth is that other health care options could be a better choice, giving you prompt, excellent care without the expense and hassle of a trip to the hospital. The Providence Holy Cross Medical Center emergency department is well equipped to treat all emergent and urgent health needs, but is it the best option? Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with these convenient, same-day health care options— all offered through Providence—that can save you time and money. EXER URGENT CARE Staffed by ER doctors, these no-appointment- needed urgent care clinics provide treatment for more serious ailments like lacerations, broken bones, skin infections and rashes, among other conditions, as well as pediatric care. Each clinic has an on-site X-ray and IV services, as well as a lab, and is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with multiple SoCal locations. If you do need to go to the emergency room, a clinic physician will book you directly to be seen at an ER. For more information and locations, visit exerurgentcare.com. URGENT CARE This option is ideal for conditions that require prompt medical attention and are more serious than what you'd see your primary care physician for, like burns, minor lacerations and wounds and worsening asthma, as well as simple sprains, strains, fever, cough, cold and flu. Patients are seen on a walk-in basis. Facey Medical Group Immediate Care locations and hours: 11333 N. That said, you should definitely get to the ER immediately (or call 911) if: (1) you're experiencing severe chest pain or think you're having a heart attack; (2) your speech is slurred or any part of your body is suddenly paralyzed or you think you're having a stroke; (3) you've lost consciousness; (4) you're bleeding and it won't stop; or (5) you're having severe abdominal pain. Our emergency department is ready to help 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
