2 | Health Matters: Providence St. Joseph Hospital Letter to the Community A s we head into the fall season, it's a time of gratitude and togetherness. After the past couple of years, this is an opportunity to have a new perspective on the things we may have taken for granted before, including time spent with family and friends. This Thanksgiving, I hope the time you spend with your loved ones creates new memories and appreciation for years to come. Speaking of families, please check out our story on the Providence St. Joseph Hospital family legacy. These are just a few of the many family members who choose to make this hospital their home, and we are so happy to have them here. I enjoyed reading their stories and I hope you do too. As the year is winding down, I'd like to reflect on a few special achievements by the Providence St. Joseph team this year. Our Robotics team earned accreditation as a Center of Excellence for Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation, and we achieved another major milestone with 10,000 robotic surgeries. The Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment's Radiation Oncology program earned a three-year accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR)—making ours the only community hospital cancer program in Orange County to earn this distinction. In the spring, we received a record-setting $53 million estate gift from an anonymous OC couple. This incredibly generous gift will benefit our patients for years to come. Our physicians performed the first procedures using our newest technologies: the Aquablation system, the NuVasive Pulse spine surgery platform and Xoft—all purchased with philanthropic support. And we had the first commercial use in the nation of 4DMedical's unique XV imaging solution, which helps clinicians better understand lung conditions. For the second year in a row, we were recognized among the Best Places to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare. And U.S. News & World Report rated St. Joseph Hospital a High Performing Hospital and recognized 16 specialties. This ranks the hospital in the top 5% of all hospitals in California. Looking forward, construction on our new medical tower is making progress. The Helen Caloggero Women's and Family Center is set to open in early 2024, so you'll be seeing the building take shape this year. It's been a great year, and I look forward to seeing what's to come.
