2 Messages from Leadership Dear Caregivers, As we head into fall, I am reminded of our many accomplishments and your dedication to our Mission. Once again, our South Bay ministries earned esteemed recognition for quality care by the American Heart and American Stroke Association and U.S. News & World Report. You can learn more about these latest recognitions and rankings on page 8 of this newsletter. We're exceptionally proud to learn Goodwill selected our Torrance ministry as Employer of the Year, and Naomi Holton, food service caregiver, as Achiever of the Year. Tom Harney, Dietary Services director, helped develop the Goodwill Internship program, which provides disabled young adults with opportunities to learn work skills, and supports our DEI commitment. In more great news, 93.7% of core leaders and 50.6% of caregivers have completed the Implicit Bias Training, exceeding our year-end completion goals of 90% and 50%, respectively. As we continue to focus on our caregivers, I want to commend our Safety and Security Teams for developing a comprehensive, proactive active shooter action plan that includes increased presence at both ministries to keep our caregivers and patients safe. As of July 4, leaders from each ministry began sharing midday, Mission-inspired messages of appreciation for our fellow caregivers through our overhead speaker system. I invite you to take that time to pause and celebrate our gratitude for each other in the sacred work we do. Our turnover numbers continue to be among the lowest in the region. Furthermore, now that all new caregivers are engaged by their core leader, a senior leader and/or a board member upon offer acceptance, we've received reports of caregivers being " WOWed" by this. We have begun weekly caregiver engagement and patient experience rounds on our patient care units which enables our senior leadership team to learn about successes and opportunities to support patient recovery. The Chief Executive Caregiver Experience Advisory Council and I continue to be grateful for your thoughtful feedback. Your voices are integral to improving our work environment and patient care. Finally, we must view change as an invitation to innovate as well an opportunity to live our values in action and reimagine how we become steadfast in our service and care for those who are most vulnerable. Our Providence family 's recently announced reorganizationwill create a nimbler response that empowers local decision-making while freeing up resources to support our frontline caregivers. As we continue to adapt through these exciting times, I am confident that by working together, we will persist in thriving and fulfilling the promise of our Mission. Thank you for all that you do. Garry Olney Chief Executive, South Bay
