Health Matters: Providence Holy Cross Medical Center | 5 about how successful Y90 could be, she let her husband, Robert, who battles diabetes and had recently lost two brothers, know the full picture of her health condition. Armed with hope, the two of them traveled the 50 miles to Mission Hills in December 2020 for her treatment. "It's an incredible story. It makes me smile every time I think of her," says Dr. Eghbalieh. "Mrs. Escobar went from stage 4 metastatic cancer to going back to work and feeling great! We continue to do close follow-up with serial imaging. The most recent, from February 2022, again shows complete resolution of her treated hepatic lesions with no evidence of reoccurrence." Prior to Y90 treatments, this would not have been possible. Plus, finding a medical facility with the technology and with highly qualified physicians trained to do this procedure can be difficult in regions outside of larger medical university settings. "Providence Holy Cross is a hidden gem in the Valley," says Dr. Eghbalieh—who adds that he chose to practice in Mission Hills in order to extend availability of much-needed leading- edge medical treatments to a larger population. The long drive from Littlerock was a small price to pay. In the end, Escobar says, she would have traveled even farther to be Dr. Eghbalieh's patient. "Dr. Navid makes you feel so comfortable, and it's so worth it. He was very calm and patient with all my questions and wanted me to understand every step. I was never scared," she says. "He's been there for me. I'm faithful—which has carried me to where I am now." Escobar's advice to anyone else facing cancer? Embrace your faith; never give up hope; and find the blessing in the process. "I see every day as a blessing. We need to put God first every day, and then everything else falls into place."
