12 Providence honor roll Congratulations to our caregivers for truly living our Mission and exemplifying our Values. Muno Bholat, PharmD, Pharmacist of the Year Congratulations to Muno Bholat, Director of Pharmacy Services for being named The Kelly Hales Memorial Pharmacist of the Year by The South Bay/Long Beach Society of Health System Pharmacists. Quality is our priority Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance treated our first patient using Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO). ECMO is a therapy that is used to provide prolonged cardiac and respirator y support to critically ill patients whose heart and lungs are not able to provide adequate amounts of oxygenation to sustain life. This external support helps patients recover by allowing their heart and lungs to rest and heal. We are so proud of our dedicated care team who continue their training at Keck Medicine of USC to use this life- saving machine, as well as Matthew Powers, M.D. who performed the procedure. Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance performed the first aquablation procedure in the South Bay, a minimally invasive treatment for patients with enlarged prostates. We are proud to be among the first in the South Bay to offer a solution for men with benign prostatic hyperplasia, providing relief without compromise. Aquablation therapy is the next step to furthering our commitment to robotic surger y and men's health. Congratulations to Malgorzata Stanczyk, MD, David Stroup, bariatric coordinator, and our entire bariatric team at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro, who recently celebrated reaching 100 successful bariatric surgery cases since the program started in 2020. Dr. Stanczyk, Bariatric Medical Director, has completed a combination of over 100 gastric sleeve and gastric bypass procedures using minimally invasive techniques including laparoscopic surger y and robotic-assisted surger y. Such procedures offer many patients improved health and quality of life. We are so proud of our team for reaching this surgical milestone and for working hard to make our program successful!
