2 | Health Matters: Providence St. Joseph Hospital Letter to the Community I 'm happy to report that for the 10th year in a row, Providence St. Joseph Hospital (SJO) is recognized as a High Performing Hospital by U.S. News & World Report, putting the hospital in the top 5% of all hospitals in California. Healthgrades named Providence St. Joseph Hospital one of America's 250 Best Hospitals, which ranks SJO in the top 5% in the nation for overall clinical excellence. And early this summer we were named among the Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2021 by Modern Healthcare. This award was especially important, as the program draws upon feedback from extensive employee surveys to evaluate organizations across several criteria, including culture, leadership, employee benefits and overall employee satisfaction, as well as new criteria measuring how employees reported feeling supported throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. It's exciting to share this news, and I appreciate our caregivers' efforts in making SJO a best place to work and their contributions to making it one of the top hospitals in California and the U.S. These past two years have been trying, so these awards are particularly significant for us. I hope it fills each caregiver and provider with pride to be a part of SJO as we serve our Dear Neighbors. I'm also happy to share that in September we broke ground on the Helen Caloggero Women's and Family Center, a four-story, 137,000-square-foot facility that will provide improved access to vital health services, benefits and resources for Orange County residents. It is currently slated to open in spring 2024. While we are still raising funds to complete the project, we're exceedingly appreciative of our generous donors who have given us the push to get to where we are today and are confident that the generosity of our community will enable us to meet our timeline for opening. The St. Joseph Hospital Foundation plays an integral role in the development of the facility, with a $2.3 million fundraising goal.
