6 Solution: Garr y Olney, our Chief Executive, is doing weekly rounds. We are actively recruiting and interviewing for new caregivers. New caregivers will receive crossover orientation and we are providing re-orientation for interested caregivers. Pulmonar y physicians are now attending staff meetings and RTs are involved in Critical Care Committee meetings to enhance collaboration and teamwork. Emergency Department Concern: Needing permanent ED director as well as additional staff when census increases rapidly Solution: HR has moved the ED director position to an executive recruiter to be more aggressive in securing candidates. Two additional traveler positions have been opened with rapid response rates to attract more nurses. Physical Therapy Concern: Lack of floating staff and no manager. Solution: Darcie Fitzgerald is the new regional leader and new structure and responsibilities have been outlined to staff. Sub-Acute Concern: Nurse/patient ratio and staffing issues, med cart breakage and a general lack of positivity within the department. Solution: Work continues with Talent Acquisition and our contracted registr y vendor to secure LVN staffing, and we recently onboarded two full-time travelers to assist on the floor. There is a " Teamwork " project focusing on positive feedback and providing monthly 'nutrition appreciation' rounds to allow caregivers to take a break and 'refresh.' Two additional med carts as well as funding for replacement parts/ repairs has been approved. Education on how to prevent med cart issues has been provided. Environmental rounds are conducted with Regulator y and SACC leaders. 3 West Concern: 3W needs to start the day with 4 CNAs instead of 3 to avoid burnout. Solution: While this depends on volume and acuity, we are reviewing the staffing matrix as well as connecting with the local educational facilities to source new CNAs. The Region is also working on this for all ministries. General Concern: Better notification about "Leader Quiet Weeks" which are weeks set aside without non-mission critical meetings to allow leaders more focused time to round and meet with their caregivers Solution: We are ensuring that all leaders know to communicate "Quiet Weeks" to caregivers through huddles and postings in break rooms, department emails, etc. All non- mission critical meetings have been cancelled as of 8/18. Concern: Employees would like to re-launch the ProvPoints employee recognition program Solution: While we cannot bring back the ProvPoints program, we are working with leadership on other recognition programs that have been well-received including weekly treats, , Tea for the Soul, and punch cards from the cafeteria. Concern: Lack of time for education and request for simulation, hands- on competency training, and new equipment training Solution: We are currently adding some simulation sessions and will perform a needs assessment for planning additional courses. We also are working with the Region on revising our competency training and have created an education steering committee to address all education needs in the South Bay, which will include new technology/equipment. Concern: Need signage for Visitor Vaccination Requirements Solution: Posters were ordered and placed at the campus entrances. Scheduling and procedural units are now notifying upcoming scheduled patients about the policy. Concern: Need for another vaccine clinic for caregivers Solution: The Regional team is working on this especially with the flu vaccine coming due in the next few weeks. Watch for the upcoming COVID newsletter to be sent out by Garr y with data regarding the ministr y and the SoCal Region. At this time, we do not intend to reopen a COVID-19 clinic for caregivers. Concern: Need better communication around new Food Service vendor. Lack of paper menus for impaired patients. Solution: Dietar y is continuing to provide communication to both campuses. Paper menus have been discontinued and dietar y caregivers will need to provide menu selections via iPads. Concern: Email distribution lists not up to date Solution: Administration connected with affected caregivers and have re-added names to All Users email list. Contact Administration if concerns arise. Concern: Avoiding burnout and putting fun back into the work environment Solution: Leaders encouraged to discuss with their teams to find ways to have more fun. Suggestions include theme days for your unit, pizza parties, 'crazy sock day,' etc. Chief Executive Caregiver Experience Advisory Council Updates Chief Executive Caregiver Experience Advisory Council SAN PEDRO MINISTRY (CONT.)
