4. Airborne Precautions • Used for diseases transmitted through small particles or aerosols, such as tuberculosis or measles. • PPE — Use N95 respirators, CAPR or PAPR. NOTE: You must be fit tested or trained on use of respirators to ensure fit and protection. 5. Enhanced and other Precautions • Used for diseases that require unique PPE due to enhanced transmission such as viral hemorrhagic fever. • May require additional training. • PPE — As necessary. Implementation in Practice Physicians should stay informed about the latest guidelines from agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and work with their Infection Preventionist.
