Intermediate Care Unit ribbon cutting event The first multi-organ transplant at St. Joseph Hospital October 2024, our transplant team successfully completed the center's first dual kidney-pancreas transplant, establishing St. Joe's as a multi-organ transplant hospital and significantly enhancing our ability to transform patients' lives. The Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) ranked the St. Joseph Hospital Kidney Transplant Center #1 in California for transplant rate and post-transplant survival rate for the second time in a row. This rating, along with this multi-organ transplant achievement, is a testament to the expertise, drive and values of the entire transplant team. Dual kidney-pancreas surgery is life-changing. After surgery, patients no longer require daily insulin or dialysis, bringing them greater freedom after years of medication and dietary restrictions. State-of-the-art patient room St. Joe's earned the Platinum Award for Organ Donation for saving and improving lives (given by Awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service's Health Resources & Services Administration) The award recognizes promoting the lifesaving gift of organ, eye, and tissue donation among colleagues and communities and increasing registered organ, eye and tissue donors across the country. Gifts of life Platinum Award Winner Another remarkable achievement for the Transplant team: in December, the team completed their 100th kidney transplant of the year. Achieving this milestone is no small feat. It requires exceptional expertise, seamless coordination and remarkable skill a testament to the dedication and proficiency of our entire team.
