2 | Health Matters: Providence Humboldt County I am excited to serve you as the new chief executive for Providence in Northern California. I began my health care career as a neonatal intensive care nurse and have since followed my passion into various roles in nursing, nursing administration and hospital leadership. Serving those in need is my calling, and it aligns with Providence's Mission to provide compassionate care for all, especially the poor and vulnerable. We are proud to provide integrated health services in Northern California. Our connected care across Napa, Sonoma and Humboldt counties helps ensure that our communities have access to high-quality clinical services, physicians and providers to meet your health care needs seamlessly. This incredible Providence network includes six hospitals Queen of the Valley Medical Center, Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, Healdsburg Hospital, Petaluma Valley Hospital, Redwood Memorial Hospital, and St. Joseph Hospital in addition to our large Providence Medical Group. Health Matters is a new publication that we'll share throughout our Northern California communities two times a year. In each edition you will find compelling patient stories, information about critical services available at our hospitals and updates from Providence doctors and caregivers about some of the life-changing and life-saving care they provide. At Providence, we believe in providing high-quality health care with compassion, dignity, justice, excellence and integrity. In 2023, we invested $186 million in Northern California community benefit programs that support healthier communities, especially the poor and vulnerable. For example: • Our mobile health and dental clinics, which have served Napa and Sonoma counties for over 30 years, provided more than 12,200 visits in 2023. • Providence's CARE Network, a community-based complex-care management program, had more than 88,000 visits last year across Northern California. Nursing, social work and community health workers assist members of our community who have chronic medical conditions, complex socioeconomic situations and barriers to managing their health. • Providence has a significant role in promoting health equity through inpatient and community-based strategies. We helped improve hypertension screening rates in the Hispanic population, providing more than 1,000 screenings via mobile clinics in Humboldt and Sonoma counties last year. • Through our partnership with Well Being Trust, Providence leveraged additional funds for Petaluma's SAFE Team, the only 24/7 mobile crisis intervention program in the state, and Humboldt's Sorrel Leaf Healing Center, a mobile crisis and residential treatment program for youth. These programs address many critical needs, including support for those suffering from substance use disorders or housing insecurity, along with free and discounted care for the underinsured and uninsured. We look forward to continuing to invest in our community and to serving you and your families through our network of care in Northern California. Humbly, Garry Olney, Chief Executive Providence Northern California To Our Northern California Community
