Community Connection: Covenant Health | 10 Support & Solidarity Caregivers Commemorate Child Abuse Victims April is National Child Abuse Prevention month. As the region's only free-standing hospital for kid's, Covenant Children's is committed to doing our part in raising awareness of child abuse and neglect. Caregivers and community members tied 735 blue ribbons on the fence in front of Covenant Children's to symbolize the 735 confirmed child abuse cases in Lubbock County in 2023. The five white kites represent the five children who lost their lives to child abuse in our region in 2023, one of those being in Lubbock County. We tie these ribbons to honor each survivor and remember each child who was taken too soon. We pray that one day there be no more ribbons, because even one is too many. Final Beans & Cornbread Lunch in the Books Our 35th Annual Mayors' Beans & Cornbread Luncheon benefiting Hospice of Lubbock was a success! The event featured performances by The Caldwell Collective Band, Jason Fellers, Butch Avery, Kassidy King, Dustin Garrett and John Sprott. Thank you to everyone who contributed and came out to support a great cause. With your generous donations, Hospice of Lubbock can continue to provide care to unfunded and underfunded, adult and pediatric, patients in the 19 counties we serve. Hospice of Lubbock is the region's only faith-based, non-profit hospice care available for adults and children. We remain committed to providing hospice care to anyone, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
