Every Moment Matters Sharing Sacred Encounters In our ongoing commitment to spotlighting the unsung heroes in our healthcare community, we are excited to share the next installment of "Every Moment Matters." This endeavor seeks to collect and share exceptional stories of caregivers who go above and beyond in their dedication to patients and our community. These heartwarming narratives will shed light on the selfless acts and extraordinary efforts of our caregivers who embody the spirit of compassionate care. We invite you to join us in recognizing and appreciating these remarkable individuals. By sharing their stories, we hope to inspire others and foster a sense of gratitude for the tireless efforts of caregivers shaping a healthier and more compassionate community. If you have a story you'd like to share and a caregiver you'd like to recognize, please submit it here. Read below about our most recent recognized caregiver. Chandler McKay, CMC Emergency Department We're proud to honor Chandler McKay for embodying Covenant Health's values both on the job and in the community. An appreciative community member submitted this letter thanking Chandler for his generosity and support in a time of need. "On a dreary January 23rd, as I was navigating the roads to Lubbock, Texas, fate threw me a curveball - or rather, a blown tire in the midst of a torrential downpour. There I was, struggling on the wet ground, unable to muster the strength to stand. I was on the ground for over ten minutes while it was raining. In my moment of distress, like a knight in a pickup truck, Mr. Chandler McKay, whom I suspect is part of the emergency room crew at Covenant Medical Center, came to my rescue unexpectedly. This fine gentleman displayed exceptional courage and a heart full of kindness. He helped me up, offered a towel form the depths of his truck, and ensured my well-being came first while he asked if he needed to call an ambulance. Despite the rain and mud, he gallantly changed my tire, refusing any form of compensation and insisting that my safety was paramount. It wasn't until later, as he was diligently working, that I noticed the Covenant Medical Center insignia on his jacket and ID. Mr. McKay's selflessness mirrors the values instilled in your team at Covenant Medical Center. His genuine concern for my safety and his willingness to go the extra mile in adverse conditions truly warmed my heart. It's reassuring to know that individuals like him are on the front lines, providing aid and comfort to those in need, whether on duty or off." Community Connection: Covenant Health | 8
