It's also a time to ask questions and work through any anxiety you may be feeling. Our Mother and Baby Care programs are designed to give you confidence. We'll answer your questions, calm your anxieties and celebrate this new stage of life with you. MATERNITY TOURS Explore our childbirth facilities and learn about the services designed to enhance the birthing experience on a free maternity tour. We walk expectant parents through the entire delivery process and answer questions to help them feel as comfortable and prepared as possible. Registration is required. Please call during the fourth month of pregnancy. CHILDBIRTH PREPARATION CLASS The course is designed to empower parents with the knowledge and skills needed for a positive birthing experience. It covers a variety of topics, including relaxation techniques, pain management, preparing a birth- preference sheet, informed consent, early infant transition and bonding, and postpartum recovery. Attendees will have the opportunity to practice and master pain management and relaxation techniques. BREASTFEEDING PREPARATION CLASS Taught by a certified lactation educator, this class is designed to help prepare for breastfeeding success. Topics include: how to get started breastfeeding after delivery, common problems and solutions, maternal diet considerations, breastfeeding positions and how to tell if the baby is getting enough. BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP A lactation consultant answers questions, provides help and gives encouragement at this free weekly group. Open to all breastfeeding mothers and support people. Registration is required; call 818-847-4142. CESAREAN AND ANESTHESIA CLASS This free class is intended only for patients with an elective cesarean. This class is for Providence Saint Joseph Burbank patients only. INFANT SAFETY AND CPR Learn first aid and safety skills that could save a child's life. PREPARING FOR YOUR NEWBORN This class covers holding, bathing, diapering, time management, keeping your baby safe, reading your infant's cues, promoting infant brain development, current parenting philosophies, safe and healthy newborn sleep, infant crying and soothing techniques, choosing a pediatrician, online resources, and feeding techniques.
