2 | Health Matters: Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center Letter to the Community T his summer marked my first anniversary as chief executive here at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center. It has been an incredible year. I am truly blessed to work with a talented and innovative team of physicians and caregivers, dedicated volunteers and a supportive community. As you may have heard, Providence Saint Joseph was once again named a Best Regional Hospital by U.S. News & World Report and was recognized as High Performing in 15 types of care: COPD, colon cancer, diabetes, geriatrics, heart attack, heart bypass, heart failure, kidney failure, knee replacement, leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pneumonia and stroke. The high-quality care we provide is defined by our Mission to steadfastly serve all, our values of compassion, dignity, excellence, justice and integrity, and the Providence Promise of "Know me, care for me, ease my way." These sacred tenets guide us in our interactions with patients, their loved ones and each other. We are steadfast in our belief that everyone arrives here deserving of our expertise and empathy. In this issue of Health Matters you'll read about some of our exceptional programs and services, including a first for our cardiovascular team (page 3), our comprehensive lung program (page 4) and the compassionate, family- focused care in our neonatal intensive care unit (page 6). As we look back on all that we have accomplished this year, we are also looking forward to 2024, when we will mark eight decades of service to our community. We believe our founding Sisters would be proud of the legacy we continue to carry forward, and are honored to continue to serve our community with compassion and a commitment to world-class care close to home.
