2 | Health Matters: Providence St. Mary Medical Center W hen I wrote to you in our Spring issue, I explained that Providence St. Mary Medical Center had just entered a crucial transitional period. Our Executive Leadership Team, a group that serves as the decision-making body for the hospital, had recently welcomed a handful of talented new members. We were in the early stages of recommitting ourselves to the Providence culture to better serve our patients, caregivers, visitors and community. And while COVID-19 remained our largest hurdle, we were starting to see a light at the end of that long, dark tunnel. The pandemic persists as a serious health issue all around the world, but our excitement for what lies ahead at Providence St. Mary is palpable. Back in April, I made a promise that the changes we were implementing would result in an even higher level of quality care for you and your loved ones. Today, I can begin to deliver on that promise. In many ways, I see this latest issue of Health Matters as a progress report. We still have a long road ahead, but my confidence in our ability to meet, and ultimately surpass, our lofty goals has never been higher, and what you will read in these pages proves why. Two stories chronicle recent accolades we were honored to receive from U.S. News & World Report and Healthgrades. The purpose, however, is not to pat ourselves on the back. Rather, it is to bring you comfort in knowing that everyone at Providence St. Mary is dedicated to ensuring that the care you receive here, should you need it, is compassionate and of the highest quality. Another exciting development involves the grand opening of the Providence AdvantAge Health Center. Operated by the St. Mary High Desert Medical Group, the new center is just east of Apple Valley 's Jess Ranch Marketplace, within walking distance of the beautiful retirement communities behind it. Providence AdvantAge caters to the seniors in our community, offering personal attention, same-day appointments, shuttle rides and extended time with a physician. It is yet another example of how we and our partners are working to ease your way. I am truly humbled by our Providence St. Mary caregivers. They collaborate to keep us successful and focused on a brighter, healthier future for the entire High Desert community. I am sure I will have more to share in the new year, thanks to their boundless passion for what they do. Until then, I wish you all the best in 2023. Respectfully, Chief Executive Providence St. Mary Medical Center To Our Beloved Community
