Honoring Physicians Who Inspire Patients to Be Philanthropic Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Centers San Pedro and Torrance recently honored two doctors whose outstanding performance has accelerated philanthropy, directly improving health care throughout our region. These doctors inspire giving through compassionate, outstanding care and their willingness to engage their patients who are financially able in philanthropy. Philanthropic giving allows us to adhere to the highest levels of clinical excellence, adopt new technologies, deliver care with a personal touch and further strengthen a reputation for excellence. These doctors, Michele Del Vicario, MD, and Santosh Kesari, MD, have been recognized as Physician Champions. Michele Del Vicario, MD Dr. Del Vicario is a retired cardiologist who helped to secure millions of dollars from grateful patients to support our Heart to Heart fundraising campaign for cardiology. A trailblazer both as a physician and in health care philanthropy, Dr. Del Vicario says of patients who give back, "It's a benefit to them psychologically … They are very grateful and thrilled that they are able to help the community we live in." Santosh Kesari, MD, PhD Dr. Kesari, a neurosurgeon with Pacific Neuroscience Institute, has devoted his life to improving outcomes and quality of life for his patients. In April 2021, he was named regional medical director of Providence California's Research Clinical Institute. He recently partnered with the Providence Little Company of Mary Foundation staff to facilitate the second-largest gift in the foundation's history. Dr. Del Vicario and Dr. Kesari are two of the many physicians who partner with our foundation to inspire grateful patients to support the medical centers through their philanthropy. To learn more about our Grateful Patient Program and ways all caregivers can grow a culture of philanthropy, call the Providence Little Company of Mary Foundation at 310-303-5340 or email plcmfoundation@providence.org.
