Volunteering at Providence
Mission Hospital: My Story
As vice president of membership of the Providence Mission Hospital Auxiliary,
I meet all the new prospective volunteers. This is truly a great experience, as it
is reenergizing to feel the enthusiasm of a vast spectrum of volunteers wanting
to give back to the hospital. For many of them, Providence Mission has provided
excellent health care to a family member or friend and there's a personal
connection. It reminds me why I started volunteering five years ago. Providence
Mission Hospital saved my life!
I am also a campus guide who assists newly admitted patients around the
hospital, assuring them that Providence Mission has the very best doctors,
nurses and health care support team.
When you give back, as the saying goes, you receive more. I receive more every
time I interview a new volunteer or escort a patient. I always leave the hospital
after my shift with a smile, knowing that perhaps I made a small difference.
