Philanthropic Success Letter from the Chief Philanthropy Officer For Providence Little Company of Mar y and other nonprofit medical centers, philanthropy plays an ever- increasing role in sustaining high-quality care, recruiting, and retaining exceptional talent, utilizing technological innovations in diagnoses and treatments, and developing new programs to better ser ve the community. Foundation staff, working in par tnership with frontline caregivers, help to create a margin of excellence in the care we provide to our South Bay communities. In 2021, nearly $13 million was raised to help our medical centers and caregivers offer the finest care possible to patients in their time of need. The impact of philanthropy was made possible through the generosity of individuals and families, including Providence Little Company of Mar y caregivers who contribute through our Mission Maker Program, corporations, foundations, and government grants. And, of course, our signature events – the Golf Classic, Women's Wellness Conference and Celebration Gala – which unite the community in suppor t of our medical centers. The ongoing pandemic has put a spotlight on the critical impor tance of having high-quality care accessible close to home, inspiring loyal donors to continue to keep us among their charitable priorities and attracting new donors to our benefactor family. While we focus diligently on advancing the impact of philanthropy, we are equally committed to utilizing donations based on donor intent in fulfillment of our mission. From COVID-19 emergency response to renovations of Labor & Deliver y rooms, the expansion and upgrading of the San Pedro Emergency Depar tment to the acquisition of technological resources to aid our physicians and other caregivers, and, of course, the professional development and recognition of our nurses, philanthropy continues to enhance the care we provide across the entire ministr y enterprise. I hope you are inspired by the many tangible votes of confidence made by our benefactors with each gift. For generations, community suppor t has been integral to our success and our passionate and dedicated volunteer leaders and donors are continuing that tradition today. We do this in ser vice to our mission, in honor of our founding Sisters, and in relentless pursuit of our vision: Health for a Better World. Kur t Hinrichsen 40 trANsFOrMiNG Our FuturE
