Protect Your Skin Summertime invites us to spend more time enjoying outdoor activities. Keep your outdoor time safe by avoiding excess sun exposure, which can lead to skin cancer. Use these tips from the American Academy of Dermatology. • Seek shade whenever possible. • Wear lightweight, long-sleeved shirts and pants. • Look for sun-protective clothing with an ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) number on the label. • Wear sunglasses that offer UV protection. • Wear a wide-brimmed hat that covers your neck, head and ears as well as your face. • If you wear sandals or flip-flops, apply sunscreen to your feet. • Use water-resistant, broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. • Reapply sunscreen every two hours or after sweating or swimming.
