2 | Health Matters: Providence St. Joseph Hospital Letter to the Community W elcome to our summer edition of Health Matters! I hope you're enjoying the summer sunshine and all that Southern California has to offer! In this issue focused on men's health, you'll see stories of how new services and technologies here at Providence St. Joseph Hospital have made lasting impacts on our patients' health. Many of our new technologies are funded in part or in whole through generous philanthropic donations to the Providence St. Joseph Hospital Foundation. We sincerely appreciate our community 's generosity. Speaking of our Foundation, I have exciting news to share. Providence St. Joseph recently received a record-setting $53 million estate gift from an Orange County couple who have requested to remain anonymous. Because of their substantial donation, the gift will create an endowment fund to support the greatest needs of Providence St. Joseph for years to come. The notable gift—the second largest in Providence history and the largest in Southern California history—is a direct result of the excellent and compassionate care the donors received at Providence St. Joseph. The impact of those experiences coupled with the dedicated service and sacrifice of Providence St. Joseph caregivers and physicians throughout the pandemic inspired the donors to make this unexpected commitment. We hope that this investment in the future of Providence St. Joseph Hospital will be a significant source of inspiration and pride and reinforces the value our community sees in the lifesaving care provided at our hospital each and every day. This gift from these generous donors will provide resources to ensure our entire community will continue to receive the highest levels of health care here at Providence St. Joseph far into the future. We sincerely appreciate all charitable donations to our Foundation. No matter the size, they help to make an impact on the health of our community.
