Goals
Phase out PVC and DEHP from
certain medical devices and
supplies over the next five years
Why We Care
Hospitals and clinics are a place
for people to heal and receive
compassionate care. When our
patients and visitors come to
our facilities, we want to ensure
that they aren't inadvertently
exposed to chemicals that
could cause harm.
Reduce greenhouse gases
from anesthesia emissions
Regional Spotlight
Dr. Brian Chesebro is a leading national voice on the
environmental impact of anesthetic agents and has
helped Providence clinicians shift practice to clinically
safe, less expensive alternatives that reduce
greenhouse gas emissions. Providence's eight hospitals
in Oregon have achieved a 94-percent reduction in
these anesthesia emissions, preventing 4,760 metric
tons of CO from enteri
ng the atmosphere every year.
