Environmental stewardship in a large organization is complex and tracking progress across multiple categories of pollution reduction and cost saving measures is needed to make prog- ress. We collect data from all 52 hospitals, over 1,000 medical office buildings, and multiple business units to better understand Providence's environmental footprint across multiple sources of carbon emissions. These categories are reflected in our com- prehensive WE ACT Scorecard framework: Waste, Energy/Water, Agriculture/Food, Chemicals, and Transportation. Prior to the scorecard, our data tracking was spotty and inconsistent across our ministries and had to be managed manually by caregivers. In late 2020, caregivers partnered with Microsoft to use Power-BI, a data visualization software, to create the WE ACT Scorecard. By early 2021, caregivers from the Providence Global Center advanced the scorecard by increasing the number of categories and ministries being tracked, refining carbon metrics, and adding several normalized comparisons. In this report, we describe the critical information contained in the scorecard, including the focus areas of our carbon re- duction efforts, goals and examples of our progress to date.
