Updates and Announcements 7 Expanding our birthing services in Torrance to best serve our community We are excited to share that since 2020 Providence Little Company of Mary Torrance has delivered more babies in the South Bay than any other hospital. It is clear that families are choosing Providence as their first choice in healthcare, which is crucial as we nurture and develop a lifelong healthcare partnership with the community. Below is an update on our Women and Children's department: Providence Little Company of Mary now offers a Doula Support Program for patients Providence Little Company of Mary is excited to share that we are the exclusive medical center in the South Bay to offer a Doula Support Program to our patients. Doulas are an extension of a patients care team. They provide physical, emotional, and informational support throughout the birthing process. They do not take the place of their care provider, nurses, or partner, they are a professional extension in helping families prepare for the birth they envision and providing hands on support so that they can achieve their birth goals. When patients want the support of a Birth or Postpartum Doula, they complete the intake form on our website and begin the process of finding the care that they want. Nurses and Doulas make an incredible team of support for our patients. Midwives as a Care Provider for our patients Mothers now have another option for delivery – Midwives. Many mothers who are low risk and often want a more natural birth will choose a Midwife attended birth. A certified nurse midwife has the compassionate understanding of the nurse's role, knows when to reach out to the OB/GYN physicians, when birth dictates. Nurse midwives will help us to ensure our patients feel empowered throughout their care with us, they become lifelong heath partners and return for subsequent births and care for the entire family.
