Both coffee and wine have health benefits when consumed in moderation. In a study with 2,000 adults, researchers found that drinking alcohol every day, especially red wine, was related to improved mental function. Having about five cups of coffee a day, instead of none, is related to a 30% lower risk of Type 2 diabetes. But too much of a good thing usually isn't a good thing. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends two alcoholic drinks or less in a day for men, one drink or less in a day for women.
