About 18 percent of Orange County residents were born in another state and 30 percent were foreign- born. When looking at birthplace by age, data show that about 88 percent of people under the age of 18 were born in California, while almost half of people ages 35 to 44 were foreign-born. Those born out-of-state constitute a considerable amount of the population ages 65 and older (42 percent).
